Hi, I'm Meryl Jacobs. I launched Gotham Edit in 2022 to bring the expertise I developed over decades in Hollywood post-production to my own boutique editing studio in NYC, serving long-term clients across the globe. We offer personalized, high-end video editing and post-production services for clients of all sizes, serving a niche in our industry with boutique one-on-one service.

I approach video editing as visual poetry combined with technical virtuosity, and am passionate about crafting stories that engage, inspire and connect with audiences globally. Partnering with a skilled video editor helps brands maximize audience engagement and stand out in our competitive, video-centric media landscape. Through my trusted network of long-term creative partners, we can scale projects and bring in specialized expertise as needed.

Our work at Gotham Edit includes branded video content for social media and broadcast platforms, including vertical format optimization and multi-platform adaptation, to promote hundreds of features and TV series for Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, including "Wicked," "Wicked: For Good,""The Super Mario Bros. Movie," and Oscar-winning films such as "1917," "Parasite," "Promising Young Woman," "I, Tonya," as well as prestige films such as the "Downton Abbey" films, "No Time to Die," "Get Out," "Nope," and franchise tentpoles including "Jurassic Park," Fast & Furious," "Back to the Future," "Fifty Shades," "Despicable Me," "Minions," and more.

In addition to my work with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, I edit corporate sizzle reels for TUMI to promote the luxury brand over multiple platforms, and edit multi-camera music videos for Lest We Forget Musicians, a well-respected non-profit. In addition, I edited an early pitch reel for the documentary "Period. End of Sentence" paving the way for its development into a prestige film to win the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short in 2019. I was honored in 2019 with a Certificate of Appreciation from the City of Los Angeles for editing the PSA "Just Hang Up" to generate awareness of financial scams affecting our seniors.

Before learning video editing, I served as finishing producer for movie trailers at the top trailer houses in Los Angeles including Trailer Park, Ant Farm and Modern Video Film. In addition, I finished for air dozens of Mattel commercials at Playground Media Group, helped launch Fox Studios' My Network TV as promo finishing producer, and honed my post-production skills in the trenches at ABC On Air Promotion in the feature films division. Prior to ABC, I worked my way up from P.A. to assistant producer at Rhythm & Hues VFX Studios in Theatrical and Commercial Visual Effects, where one of my first projects was the feature film "The Nutty Professor” for which I received a screen credit.

I started my career in NYC in advertising, but soon caught the theatre bug, and pursued a career as a theatrical stage manager, working on several Broadway shows, including Les Misérables, Pygmalion, Sunday in the Park with George, and Wind in the Willows.  I received a B.A. Degree in Literature from Columbia University, where I graduated on the Dean's List.

After becoming proficient in Avid Media Composer, I taught myself Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVince Resolve to build a flexible skillset across the industry's top editing platforms. My company, Gotham Edit, is a member of the Motion Picture Association's Trusted Partner Network and is certified by the City of New York's M/WBE program as a Women-Owned Business Enterprise. I am honored to be a member of the NY Women in Film and Television.
